The stretch we cover
From the harbour at Dún Laoghaire south along the Vico Road to Killiney, with the inland turn through Glenageary and Dalkey hill. The pattern of work shifts a bit south of the harbour — more big-house dinners, more occasional weddings — but the food sense is the same.
- Dún Laoghaire town and the harbour-front terraces (A96) — apartments, smaller dinners, the occasional sailing-club evening
- Glenageary, Sandycove (A96 / A94) — converted Victorian terraces, family events, milestone birthdays
- Dalkey village and Coliemore Road — small private dinners in the Georgian flat-fronted houses, table of 10–14 typical
- Killiney hill and Vico Road — the larger coastal-front detached houses, summer garden weddings and milestone party catering
- Monkstown village (A94) — a steady run of private dinners through the year
A note on fish from Sallynoggin
The fish supply for the kitchen is from Hooked at Sallynoggin — twenty minutes from Synge Street, but right on the doorstep for a Dún Laoghaire job. For coastal weddings and dinners we'll often add a course around what's landed that morning: mackerel from Howth boats, hake or pollack, the occasional ray-wing when it's in. Worth mentioning to clients with a sea-facing venue — the menu writes itself.
Coastal garden weddings
Killiney and Vico Road see four or five garden weddings a year on our books. The kit list is slightly different from inland weddings — marquees catch more wind from the bay, so power and prep tables go inside the house when possible; the photographer's "golden hour" rolls in 25 minutes later than they expect because the sun goes behind the hill before it goes properly down; and we always pack a few extra warming pads for service because the temperature can drop more quickly along the coast.
- Typical head count: 70–140
- Service style: family-style mains is standard; plated dessert almost always
- Travel surcharge: €1.20pp (the only place inside Dublin we charge one)
- Tasting at Synge Street, site recce on the venue 2–3 weeks ahead
Services available across the southside coast
